The details and a critique from a law professor here. The criticisms are apt, although students have no legal right to academic freedom, and they don't have a principled claim either since they lack a scholarly discipline which is the foundation of a claim to academic freedom. What they do have is a constitutional right not to have political indoctrination imposed on them as a requirement for study.
