This new study is making the rounds on social media. It uses a 2018 online survey on this blog as one of its benchmarks, as well as its own survey of philosophical authors. As the author notes, "the survey-based ranking [conducted by the author] correlates highly with" the 2018 ranking on this blog. It seems to correlate even more highly with the 2022 online survey on this blog. I confess I was surprised that an online, opt-in survey here should correlate so well with a more methodical approach, like that used by the author. I do wonder whether there isn't a feedback effect, given the prominence of this blog and the high level of interest in the journal surveys, but that is just speculation. In any case, the new study is worth a look for those interested in these kinds of things.
