I haven't seen this before: those who submit papers to the conference pay a fee ($22), which is used to generate prize money. Conference participants review and then vote on which paper deserves the prize. I'm curious what readers think of this approach? I can imagine some preferring not to have to pay a fee, and just participating in the conference without it also being a competition. But maybe there is demand for this?
(Thanks to Nate Sharadin for the pointer.)
