...for no reason at all, except that the Board members are fascists and plan to "remake" the college. I hope the faculty who are victims of this political purge--that's what it is--will sue for violation of their constitutional rights. They are being punished for their actual or perceived "viewpoint" in violation of the First Amendment.
What's going on in Florida generally is the most serious attack on academic freedom and free speech in the U.S. right now, far more important than infantile pseudo-leftists preventing conservative judges from speaking on campus (that's idiotic too, but does not compare in terms of ruining lives and chilling speech). The fact that the right-wing press isn't up in arms about this tells you everything you need to know about their actual interest in free speech and academic freedom.
