Reader Valentin Weber points out to me that the well-known bioethicist Julian Savulescu, previously Uehiro Professor of Practical Ethics at Oxford, took up a Chair in medical ethics at the National University of Singapore last year. NUS, which pays competitively with the best American universities, has recruited senior faculty from the UK (and sometimes even from the U.S.) in many fields in recent years.
