UPDATE: Professor Stock was advised by police to stay away from campus and install security devices at her home, as a result of the latest "student" protests against her views; this was the culmination of a years-long campaign of denunciations by other Sussex academics, philosophy faculty and students in the UK and abroad, and unrelenting toxic abuse and lies on Twitter. Professor Stock is a parent, as well as an academic; all of this must have been horrifying and frightening at times. Despite this, the cruelty and viciousness of "professional" philosophers can't even take a break when she finally resigns her position. Here is Professor Bryan Van Norden of Vassar College--a serious scholar who lost his mind in the last few years--purporting to explain why Professor Stock resigned her position:
