"Woke capitalism" isn't playing that well with the capitalists who pay 50k and up to send their kids to private high schools in NYC, schools which seem to have fallen through the Kendi-antiracist looking glass. But the question is why? The race fixation and posturing doesn't, of course, endanger capitalist relations of production, although I imagine it will endanger the privileges the parents are paying dearly for, as colleges rush to admit more racial minorities and fewer kids from "elitist" institutions. (This Atlantic article captures the anti-private school Zeitgeist well). Indeed, when the New York Times, the mouthpiece of the prudent wing of the ruling class in America, publishes an article like this about the invasion of the bastions of ruling class privilege by non-elite students, elite prep schools surely have good reasons to worry. Their rush to hyper-wokeness is probably an attempt to rebrand the schools so that elite colleges can resume admitting their students in suitably large proportions.
