After the failed petition to retract a peer-reviewed article by Nathan Cofnas, a graduate student at Oxford (who replies to some critics here), several readers pointed out that the same (or at least related) subject had been aired in the pages of the NYT by David Reich, a genetics professor at Harvard, back in 2018. I invite signed comments from informed readers about the Reich essay. (This old essay by philosopher Ned Block is also useful background here. I don't see that Reich is making the mistakes Block identifies, but I am happy to be corrected.)
UPDATE: See also this follow-up piece by Reich, also in the NYT. (Thanks to Jerry Dworkin for the pointer.)
