Readers may recall that the ACU's new Dianoia Institute of Philosophy recruited Stephen Finlay (metaethics) from USC and has now made a number of other senior hires (faculty coming in as "Senior Research Fellows" or, in the case of Hawthorne, "Professor"), including:
Samuel Baron (philosophy of time, philosophy of mathematics, metaphilosophy) from the University of Western Australia (effective January 2020).
Peter Fritz (logic, metaphysics, philosophy of language) from the University of Oslo (effective July 2020).
Simon Goldstein (logic, philosophy of language, epistemology) from Lingnan University of Hong Kong (effective this fall).
John Hawthorne (metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of language) from the University of Southern California, also effective this fall (although given the different academic calendars, Hawthorne will continue to teach one semester per year at USC for at least the next two years).
The Institute has also made several "junior" appointments of Research Fellows; you can find out more at its website.
A big investment in philosophy by the ACU!
ADDENDUM: Professor Finlay tells me they also have offers out to two senior women as well, so stay tuned for possibly more developments!
