Pickard & Phillips from Birmingham to Johns Hopkins

Hanna Pickard (philosophy of psychology, moral psychology, medical ethics) and Ian Phillips (philosophy of mind & psychology), both currently Professors of Philosophy at the University of Birmingham, have accepted appointments as interdisciplinary Bloomberg Distinguished Professors at Johns Hopkins University.  In addition to tenured appointments in the Department of Philosophy, Pickard will also hold an appointment in the Berman Institute of Bioethics in the School of Medicine, while Phillips will also hold an appointment in Psychological and Brain Sciences.   These are the first two appointments as part of the expansion of the department of philosophy made possible by the Miller gift last year, and they certainly mark a very good start!
