Scholars propose lowering the p-value from .05 to .005. If the latter had been the standard, most of the social science philosophers enthuse about would be considered merely "suggestive" not a real result. A couple of philosophers are among the signatories to this proposal--I spotted Kenny Easwaran (Texas A&M) and Edouard Machery (Pittsburgh).
