UPDATE: Readers keep e-mailing to ask what the 'experiment' is. Sorry for sounding mysterious, I'm puzzled by Google image results, and in particular, by the fact that this photo, which is on my law school homepage, and other places, including this blog, doesn't seem to turn up.
