An undergraduate student writes:
I am finishing up my undergraduate work have recently received a research fellowship. I was curious how much of an impact fellowships--particularly the Marshall, Rhodes, and Fulbright--have on the Ph.D admissions process. This seems to be one of the very few admissions related topics not discussed on your blog. Are such things considered relevant but unimportant? completely irrelevant? immensely significant? is there a large difference between the impact of the different grants?
Again, I'll weigh in at some point, though the last time I said that (about updating references on the CV) all the right points got made, so perhaps that will happen this time too and I'll have nothing to add.
