I just discovered that this excellent essay by Stephen Neale (CUNY) about Quentin Smith's dramatic allegations of 'plagiarism' against Saul Kripke from fifteen years ago is available on-line. It was, I thought, the single clearest and most accessible explanation of the issues, and a rebuttal of the charge. Quite apart from Smith's allegations, Neale's piece is a nice introduction to some central issues in philosophy of language of the past forty years.
