MOVING TO FRONT FROM AUGUST 27
Yujin Nagasawa, a philosopher at the University of Birmingham, writes:
I wonder if you might be interested in discussing on your blog the possibility of making a list of philosophers visiting foreign countries. The website of the British Philosophical Association used to have a list of philosophers visiting UK each year but it would be nice to have such a list for other countries as well. It would benefit organisers of departmental seminars and conferences because they can invite international speakers with minimum cost. It would also benefit speakers because it allows them to give as many talks as possible while they are overseas.
This does seem a very useful idea. I will open comments here for philosophers, or host departments, to post information about philosophers from other countries visiting during 2009-10. But if someone wants to set up a website for this purpose, send me a link, and I will post it. Signed comments only will be approved, to help insure the accuracy of this list.
