Dan Sperber (Jean Nicod Institute, CNRS, Paris) has won the first Claude Levi-Strauss Prize from the French government recognizing work in the human and social sciences; Sperber was honored for his important work in anthropology, linguistics, philosophy, and cognitive science. Among philosophers, Sperber is probably best-known for his contributions to pragmatics.
