...but a blog is running a contest for the "best philosophy post on a blog" in the last year, and most (not all) of the nominations so far are incompetent or worse. Since the contest actually comes with a cash prize, and since it's pretty clear the blog running the contest has relatively few readers informed on this subject, I'm posting the link in the hope that philosophers will actually nominate some good items. In general, I think these kind of blogospheric contests are total bullshit, in which "the less they know, the less they know it" rules. But several readers have encouraged me to link on the theory that the readership here might constructively affect the results and also because they do have a legitimate judge, Daniel Dennett. Unfortunately, Dennett's choices are limited to those that prevail in a reader's poll, so in addition to nominating good posts, I'll have to post a link in about a week encouraging readers to vote.
So, dear philosophy readers, let's make sure something intelligent and competent actually wins.
