Good Places for Grad Students to Study German?

I've started a thread on the topic at my Nietzsche blog, but this will obviously be of interest to others.  Please weigh in if you have useful experiences to report.

Schmaltz from Duke to Michigan

Tad Schmaltz (early modern philosophy) at Duke University (who is also the current editor of Journal of the History of Philosophy) has accepted a senior offer from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he will start in fall 2010.  This is obviously an important development for students interested in history of modern philosophy presently considering either Michigan or Duke.

A Big Change on the Horizon for the PGR

After overseeing the PGR for twenty years (almost ten of them with the invaluable help of the Advisory Board), I've decided it's time to turn over the operation to others. 

Happily, Professor Richard Heck of Brown University and the Society for Phenomenology & Existential Philosophy have agreed to produce future iterations of the PGR, beginning in 2011.  More details below the fold:
