A Vow Forsaken
Struggling home at dawn
I briefly view an unexpected birth
Seeing the night I squandered turn to light
I vow to change my life
Rise early and write till noon
Feast only on salad and yogurt no wine
Never again be cross or self-absorbed
But self-absorption was all it was
Aflame in the fever of dissipation
As the sun rose up I tumbled into sleep
Awash in dreams of relevance
Of promises and starry nights to come
