Ernest Sosa, who has recently moved from Brown to Rutgers and who is an editor of both Nous and Philosophy & Phenomenological Research, writes with the following important information:
This is to announce a six-month moratorium on submissions to Nous and to Philosophy and Phenomenological Research. During that period, each journal will move from paper to exclusively electronic operation. After the transition, all submissions accepted for consideration will be electronic, as will dealings with referees and later communications with submitting authors.
In combination, the consequent reduction in the now-long backlogs and the greater efficiency of online operation are expected to reduce greatly the deplorable time lags that philosophy journals presently suffer, both in disposition of submissions and also in span from acceptance to publication.
No submissions will be accepted after Wednesday, October 18. At the end of the six-month moratorium, both journals will accept only online submissions. When they are prepared to accept these, in mid-April, 2007, submission instructions will be announced at the journals' websites.
