The 2006 Guggenheim Fellowships have been announced, and two philosophers are among the winners. Dennis Des Chene (Washington University, St. Louis) won support for his project "Wisdom and the new science in the 17th century" and Thomas Hurka (University of Toronto) received a Fellowship for a project on "British moral philosophy from Sidgwick to Ross."
(Of local interest, UT Austin Professor of Italian and Comparative Literature Douglas Biow also won a Guggenheim this year.)
