UPDATE: And again to the front: see the updates for the most recent developments; earlier updates aren't bolded.
UPDATE: Moving to the front from March 28, since there are developments on several of these offers, noted below.
========================
With decision time approaching for PhD programs, I thought I'd aggregate the information on outstanding offers; some of this information has already been posted, some of it is new. I will just list tenured offers, and I will update this periodically and move it to the front.
UPDATE: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor has made an offer to Nomy Arpaly (ethics) at Brown University. UPDATE (4/26): Arpaly has declined the Michigan offer.
Harvard University has made an offer to Ned Hall (metaphysics, philosophy of science, philosophy of physics) at Massachussetts Institute of Technology. UPDATE (3/30): Hall has accepted the offer, to start this fall.
University of Texas at Austin has made an offer to David Estlund (political philosophy) at Brown University.
University of Notre Dame has made an offer to Keith DeRose (epistemology, philosophy of language, philosophy of religion, early modern philosophy) at Yale University. UPDATE (4/17): DeRose has declined the offer.
University of Arizona has made offers to Christopher Hill (philosophy of mind and language, metaphysics and epistemology) at Brown University and Connie Rosati (ethics, philosophy of law) at the University of California at Davis. UPDATE: Hill has declined the offer, and will remain at Brown. UPDATE (4/26): Rosati has accepted the Arizona offer.
UPDATE (4/14): Brown University has hired Richard Heck (philosophy of language, logic, and math; history of analytic philosophy) from Harvard University.
Ohio State University has made offers to Margaret Morrison (philosophy of science) at the University of Toronto and Jonathan Vogel (epistemology) at Amherst College. UPDATE (3/28): Morrison has declined the offer, and will remain at Toronto.
UPDATE: University of Southern California has made an offer to George Wilson (philosophy of language, philosophy of action, philosophy of art) at the University of California at Davis. USC is also still trying to recruit James van Cleve (who is half-time at USC, half-time at Brown) to a full-time post. Van Cleve works in metaphysics, epistemology, Kant, modern philosophy, and other areas. UPDATE (4/14): Both Wilson and Van Cleve have accepted (Van Cleve, in other words, will now be full-time at USC). Although the department still remains somewhat narrow in its focus, I would expect these new appointments to push the overall program into the top 20 in the U.S.
University of California at Davis has made offers to Alan Nelson (early modern philosophy) at the University of California at Irvine and Jonathan Vogel (epistemology) at Amherst College.
University of Toronto has made offers to Mohan Matthen (philosophy of mind, ancient philosophy, philosophy of biology) at the University of British Columbia; Diana Raffman (philosophy of mind, aesthetics) at Ohio State University; Evan Thompson (philosophy of mind and cognitive science) at York University, Toronto; and Byeong Yi (philosophy of language and logic, metaphysics) at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. UPDATE (4/19, 4/22): Both Raffman and Yi have now accepted the offers.
UPDATE: Yale University has made an offer to Don Garrett (early modern) at New York University. Yale also still has an offer outstanding to George Bealer (metaphysics) at the University of Texas at Austin. UPDATE (5/05): Garrett has declined the offer.
University of Western Ontario has made an offer to Bob Batterman (philosophy of science and physics) at Ohio State University. UPDATE (3/29): Batterman has accepted the Rotman Canada Research Chair in Philosophy of Science at Western Ontario. This is turning in to a tough year for Ohio State, which has now lost several senior faculty.
