I'm excited to announce that the first books in the new Routledge Philosophers series I edit are now available. (On the linked site, many of these say July 28 publication date, but I have hard copies of almost all of them now sitting in my office.) The first books are by a really outstanding group of scholars, all internationally recognized authorities on the philosophers in question. The first books in the series are:
Freud by Jonathan Lear (University of Chicago)
Hegel by Frederick Beiser (Syracuse University)
Hobbes by A.P. Martinich (University of Texas, Austin)
Leibniz by Nicholas Jolley (University of California, Irvine)
Locke by E.J. Lowe (University of Durham)
Rousseau by Nicholas Dent (University of Birmingham)
Schopenhauer by Julian Young (University of Auckland)
Books forthcoming in the next year or so in the series include Hume by Don Garrett (New York University), Kant by Paul Guyer (University of Pennsylvania), and Spinoza by Michael Della Rocca (Yale University).
(See also the nice plug for Dent's book from Chris Bertram (Philosophy, Bristol), himself a distinguished expert on Rousseau, among other figures and topics in political philosophy.)
