Martin Davies at the Australian National University has been offered the Wilde Chair in Mental Philosophy at Oxford University; prior to moving to the ANU in 2000, Davies had been the Wilde Reader in Mental Philosophy at Oxford, a post that was elevated to Chair status subsequently. Oxford had tried to recruit David Chalmers, now Davies's colleague at ANU, to the Chair several years ago; it was then held by John Campbell, a longtime Oxonian, who has since moved to Berkeley. It would be a significant coup for philosophy of mind at Oxford, and in Britain, if they can attract Davies back.
