Easily the most intellectually and morally useful contribution to the blogosphere in my memory has been the patient and thorough demolition of know-nothing journalist Michelle Malkin's book-length apology for the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II by Professor Eric Muller (Law, North Carolina), himself an actual, scholarly authority on the subject. Professor Muller has collected his materials on the subject here.
For his efforts, Professor Muller has now been treated to some stupid and abusive correspondence from one "Alec Rawls," who appears to be the great man's son. Does anyone know the story here? Is this really the son of John Rawls, famed for his generosity and gentleness, as well as his rigorous and careful philosophical mind? If so, how tragic.
UPDATE: I'm sorry to report this really is the great man's son; see here, and scroll down towards the bottom.
