More elaborate (and closest to the 2003 Leiter survey of 152 leading scholars) was the 1977 Cartter Report, published by Change, which surveyed law faculty asking them to evaluate "faculty quality". The 1977 Cartter rankings by faculty quality (with the 2003 Leiter study ranking in parentheses):
