Lies, Damn Lies, and Alumni Magazines

Even though Washington University announced in its alumni magazine, sent to every law professor in America, that the political scientist Matthew McCubbins from UC San Diego would be joining them in 2004, I've received the somewhat cryptic warning from a friend of McCubbins (a reliable one, I should add) that "it won't happen." If that turns out to be right--I'll be watching that one--this means the Wash U alumni magazine will have topped the NYU Law alumni magazine for playing fast and loose with the truth. We'll see...
