Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews has recently published two informative reviews of two important recent works of philosophy; I recommend both books (though I disagree, in the end, quite strongly with one of them). The books are:
(1) John Doris's Lack of Character: Personality and Moral Behavior (CUP, 2002), which is informatively reviewed by Lawrence Blum.
(2) Michael Rea's World Without Design: The Ontological Consequences of Naturalism (OUP, 2002), which is skillfully reviewed by Troy Cross. Cross makes, I think, the right criticisms of Rea's argument, but I would just underline that the opening chapters of the book are an especially valuable and scholarly investigation of the contours of philosophical naturalism, from which naturalists will benefit.
