A long piece in The New Yorker, that sums up what Republican crazy is like these days. When I arrived in Texas in 1995, George W. Bush was Governor, and a benign figure, interested in cutting taxes and "tort reform," and little else. When he became President, Rick Perry became Governor, and went increasingly beserk. By the time I left in 2008, right-wing crazy was ascending, and it's only gotten worse since. It's a human tragedy.
