Two Tenured Appointments at South Florida: Levine from Lehigh, Williams from Iowa

The University of South Florida has made two hires of tenured associate professors:  Alex Levine (philosophy of science) will join the USF Department from Lehigh University, and Thomas Williams (medieval philosophy) will come to USF from the University of Iowa (though will be on research leave at the Notre Dame Center for Philosophy of Religion during 2005-06).

The USF Department has built up quite dramatically in the last couple of years, developing a particular niche in history of philosophy.  Other senior appointments in recent years include Roger Ariew (early modern philosophy and science) from Virginia Tech (who is now Chair of the USF Department) and Charles Guignon (Continental philosophy) from the University of Vermont.  We'll be including USF in the 2006 PGR surveys in light of all these developments.
